UPDATE YOUR HOME ON THE CHEAP!

There are many things you can do to give your home a makeover that are quick and inexpensive. Even small changes can make a big difference and give your home a fresh, new look that’s sure to brighten your mood when the temperatures drop outside.

Replacing cabinet hardware brings new life to your kitchen, bathroom, or even your dresser. If you use knobs or pulls that are the same size as the existing ones, you won’t have to re-drill or do repairs. Going from classic styles to a more modern look can make a big difference. And it’s an easy change to un-do if you’re not happy with the results. Feeling more ambitious with your projects? Paint the cabinets while you’re at it to get a whole new room.

Like to scour garage sales or flea markets? Next time look for old furniture that you can give new life. Dressers and bookcases do well with a coat of new paint, but look beyond that! Use multiple paint colors to create stripes, dots, or an ombre pattern. Use stencils to give extra detail or decoupage to add splashes of color and unique style. You can even use wallpaper on shelves or door panels to add interest.

Lastly, don’t forget the importance of textiles. Adding new cushion covers or a throw to your couch adds a pop of color that brightens up the room. Placing rugs can bring extra warmth and texture to your rooms. When you change from a light cover on your bed to a heavier one for winter, change out the drapes as well. Play with color and texture until you find something you really love.
