A FRESH START FOR SPRING

Spring is in the air, and that means it’s time to air out your home and get it clean and fresh! While it may feel overwhelming to tackle your entire house at once, there are many ways to make it easier on you. Here are a few tips to help make spring cleaning more manageable.
Making a checklist is a great first step. Not only does it help you focus on one thing at a time, but also it is very satisfying to see your progress! Instead of listing tasks that have to be done throughout the house, section off your list by rooms. Underneath each room, list the specific tasks for that room. That gives you a true picture of what remains to be done as you go. Tackling one room at a time saves energy and keeps you from having to backtrack.
When you start in a room, scan it for items that do not belong there. Keep bins or boxes just outside the room to sort items that go in other parts of the house. Keep a trash bag inside the room to dispose of any debris or unwanted paper or other items. Once that’s complete, you’ll want to start at the ceiling and work your way to the floor. There’s no point vacuuming until you’ve cleared cobwebs out of the ceiling corners and dusted all the shelves. After you’ve cleaned a room, why not spray it with a non-toxic air freshener or water infused with your favorite essential oil? It will freshen the air and make the room feel even more inviting.
Don’t forget to go through the house to perform infrequent but necessary tasks. Turn mattresses in the bedrooms. Change batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Put new boxes of baking soda in your fridge and freezer. You’ll love knowing that your home is clean, fresh, and safe!
